Fulton Farms is renowned for producing delicious strawberries. We know how much our customers love our berries so we try to get a crop ready as early in the season as possible. Ohio is a fine place for growing berries, but it does take a bit of careful planning to get them harvested as early as we do.

One of the ways we are able to accomplish this is a product known as spun-bonnet. The first thing spun bonnet protects our early strawberries against is frost. In order to ensure our early berries survive to fruitfulness, we have to protect them against the unpredictable weather of Spring time in Ohio. Spun bonnet is a natural, light-weight material that insulates our young plants against the cold and especially against early Spring frosts.

Thanks to this ingenuity and the mild Spring weather we’ve enjoyed, we’re looking at having Strawberries in as early as two weeks. Check back soon to see how the crops are progressing at Fulton Farms.

Update 04/06/12

We have limited amounts of early berries available in the market!

Our CSA program known as The Happy Box started in 2004 with just a handful of Dayton area customers. Although our program came from humble beginnings, soon the news that Fulton Farms was offering weekly delivery of delicious organic produce began to spread. Within a few short years, our community has blossomed into a thriving group of nearly 700 weekly subscribers. For a small weekly fee, these customers receive a generous box of fresh organic produce grown from our farm and sourced from other similar programs to add a little seasonal variety.
